I was going to write a traditional artist biography here,
but then I thought this is my blog and writing in 3rd person just
didn’t fit or seem personal enough. So
here goes.
I was born in Ft. Benning, GA, but grew up in Anchorage, AK
and I lived there for 35yrs. I currently
live in Colorado Springs, CO.
As a child growing up in Alaska I was surrounded by
beautiful scenery. This is where I
started drawing and doodling, mainly landscapes, trees and moose. Although I was not encouraged to be an
artist, actually discouraged, I sat it aside and explored musical arts (flute, viola,
keyboards).
Let’s fast forward a bit…as an adult I would find myself always
doing some kind of arts and crafts. That
is when I found Close to my Heart stamping company. I knew right away that I needed to become a
consultant. This is when my crafting and
online business started. I was busy making,
selling and teaching stamping.
Close to my Heart was a big part of my life for 10yrs. A wonderful
direct sell business to be involved with, but I felt I needed more. This is when the adventure continued to
fabric, fibers and felting. All of which
I still like to do.
Although I still felt
the need to go back to drawing and painting.
I was tired of hearing the voice in my head that said I couldn’t draw or
paint. Yes, I am a self-taught
artist. Although, I love taking in as
many art retreats as I can.
Today I love to work in my art journal, paint and allow
myself and my art to evolve. Each day
brings something new and that makes me happy to go to work in my studio and
share it with you on this blog.
I hope you come along on my artistic journey.
Judy
