Happy Saturday

This week I did manage to get some scrapbooking done.  Here is one page that I did to add some color to my scraproom.  Usually I use black and white photo's but this time a colored photo worked. 

So this week-end I'm scrapping a bunch of photos and finishing another wall hanging for my scraproom, just love that color combo of red & baby blue. 

The WINNER of a FREE stamp set from yesterday's post is jkreucher.  I need you to send me your mailing address at scrampalot@gmail.com .  OK so the picture was pretty easy but a different perspective - it was a solar yard light that we stuck around our patio.  As you can see I live in a desert and we have lots of SAND!  I really wanted to get it landscaped this summer but we didn't move in until September.  I can't wait for the day that the dogs don't bring in sand & mud!!

I will try again to stump you on a photo, it was so much fun to get out there and play.

Ironman

I love that saying "I am Ironman" and I'm so looking forward to the next sequel movie that is coming out soon.  But this layout is not about the movie, it is about the battles that my Dad has had over the last couple of years.  As my journaling says, "Ironman" is his nickname with the neighbors.  Some of you know, but I have been pretty quiet about it, but my dad had surgery on Wednesday to remove a cancerous tumor.  He goes to the Dr. in a week and we will know more about his treatment, but he has a great attitude about the whole thing.  So like my dad I like to make light of the situation and I really think my dad will enjoy me sending a copy of this digital layout.

I used a Greeting Farm stamp - Amazing Duo, colored with my Copic markers and scanned it in to add to the layout.  And I found the perfect paper pack is from Scrap Orchard, called Kawpow!  And that's the sound everytime my dad kicks butt!

Digi layout?

I was going to make a card but I needed a little break from my Copics.  So I decided to play around with Photoshop last night and a quick page from Scrap Orchard - Pinky Promise.  I have the pleasure to be a part of their DT.  So if you like digi layouts or fun templates, such as my Magnolia post where she is sitting on a slice of cake, this is a fun site! 

So let me know if you want me throw in a scrapbook page now and then!

Fred She Said Spotlight

Have you ever had those times when your mind goes totally blank? Well it happened to me when I was asked do this weeks DT spotlight for Fred She Said. I have had a really busy last two week, and dealing with some family issues makes creativity a little on empty. AND to top it off, Fred She Said DT is so awesome and I wasn’t sure where I fit in. So I went to ask “Fred” (Tracy) and I had this feeling she wanted me to do something on the lines of scrapbooking.

I have been teaching scrapbook classes for seven years, so scrapbooking I can do. Many people know that I LOVE to do mini albums. You get such a satisfaction from doing them, first they are cute, second you don’t need a lot of pictures and third you can do one for every theme.

Ok...so back to my blank mind. I have so many ideas wandering around in that thing called a brain, but I still have to surf the net to get some inspiration. I stumbled upon this YouTube video of a very talented lady HERE and I watched how she made a mini album from those legal mailing envelopes. I had my plan!


I started with just regular envelopes and cut a ½” off each end – simple huh? Then scored them, covered them with paper, add chip board and FSS awesome images and this is what you get! I know you are all going to go watch the video, so all them dimensions are there for you. Again here is the link…HERE.

I have been asked several times how the digital stamps can be used in a scrapbook and I just love how FSS images just compliment this book.  This image is Fred's - A lovely blossom & butterfly digi.  Hee is a peek of the inside...

This is the left hand side where you can hide some journaling or additional photos.  And as you see the digi flowers are just great accents and the faux stitching really makes it look complete.

This is the right hand side and a great place to add a good size photo, the flap also lifts up for more hidden stuff or you can write something special about the person on the inside of the flap!

I'm sorry I didn't get my friends photos in the book.  I have a few requests from them to send me an updated photo.  So I hope you enjoyed this little scrapbook tour and I know you will enjoy the Youtube video.

This week's Scrap Class for Sat. 28th

This week-end class is a combination class.  You can sign up for the scrapbook layout and/or the graditude journal w/jar.  Both classes are using Workshop on the Go - Sweet Home.  If you like this paper pack and really want this limited edition stamp set I will be placing the order for the kits on 11/30/09.

For those of you still doing a monthly layout, this would be perfect for November, either snow pictures or being home for Thanksgiving.

Making baby albums

Hi there! I'm just giving you a little sneak peek at what I have been working on the past two days, Lilly's & Paxton's baby albums. The picture is actually Lilly's pages. I know it's not much but I wanted to make a simple scrapbook that the new mom's just have to add 2-3 photos and be done. I'm not sure if the mom's are even into scrapbooking so my challenge is to make it easy for them. Tell me what you think?

I went with doing a layout each month of the 1st year, because we all know how fast babies grow and change that first year. I chose not to do Baby's first, like first hair cut, tooth, mainly because I had one of those books when my daughter was a baby and many of the times i didn't have a camera to document the events...so she had many blanks in her book that I just gave up. I like doing monthly layouts for myself too so that we have a archive of what went on during the year.

All supplies are Close to My Heart, colors are Chocolate, Amethyst, and Vanilla Cream.

Sneak peek at Thursday's class

This is a class sample for the Peanut & Butter Jelly class on Thursday, 6/26/09 @ 6:30pm. This is a community service project. I’m doing this class for those who are without food. The Alaska food bank is looking for donations, and they say they are always looking for PB & J. Class fee is $10 or $5 with Peanut Butter or Jelly food donation. I will be serving PB & J cookies, Jessie’s recipe! RVSP to reserve your space.

Here is a little bit about the class. I love the look of the popular layered books that a few scrap companies make. After looking at a few I decided to try to make one of my own, however this is smaller version. The largest page is 4x6. I used a deck of giant playing cards that I bought in Las Vegas last year. 1 deck of cards could make several books for family gifts (Christmas, a child color book, baby shower, wedding or your top 5). I could go on. My thought is to not use bulky embellishments on the inside (this is why I my daughter's page has nothing yet) and laminate each page, then it is finger friendly for those little ones to look at. Tell me what you think.

April Friday Challenge - B&W

I saw a really striking layout in this month's Scrapbook ETC., on page 26. It's ok to run in the grocery store and look this page up! I would, but I bought the magazine & I looked to see if they had a photo of it on their website, no such luck! Anyways, the challenge is to make a layout by random stamping a black images on a white piece of card stock.- So go have fun creating your own patterned paper OR if you don't feel like stamping grab a great piece of b&w patterned paper. Now pick a color to accent - such as pink, purple, baby blue or red. The accent paper will be for your photo mat, title, & accents.

I'm trying to finish mine before I leave this morning! Hope to get a email pict of your layout so you can get your name in this month's drawing. An additional way to get your name in the drawing is to attend the Bayshore Community Center Crop on Sunday from 11am-6pm. Call for directions. 522-4399

OK so here is my rough example: Its not finished with journaling & title. Also in this photo the picture of my dad looks washed out (need to enhance this old photo). I have been thinking alot about him.

Life Delights

I am doing a scrapbook with all the Friday scrap challenges in a 9x9 format and just love it. So here is my page using the sketch from last Friday challenge.

I used a picture of Jessie and a friend's dog. This is one of those random shots that may not be the best photo, but I just love how both of them were able to fall asleep on a car ride. 1 child, 1 dog, 1 comfy sleeping bag, 200 mile drive home from Homer, Alaska = 2 sleepy pups!

Supplies used: Close to my Heart Life Delights paper pack, Slice die cutter, chocolate brads, white paper flowers and a brown ink pen.

Feb month in review

I started doing month in review this year. I have these random pictures during the month that sometimes don't get scrapped but I like them or there is a big event for the month that I want to remember; such as Nettie's ultrasound pictures. Congrats to you two!

Supplies used CTMH grey, sweetleaf, crystal blue, cocoa card stock & ink pads, D1330 Connections Stamp set. It is still needs its journaling, so maybe tommorrow.

Saturday 2/28/09 Scrap class

This month's scrap class is doing (4) 12x12 scrap pages to start a series of a month in review. Each month we will complete the month's scrapbook layout, this month we are doing January & February layouts. This can be a great addition to your ongoing scrapbook or these layouts can be in their own album. Wouldn't it be great to see how your family changes over the year!

I'm doing it too...

I just wanted everyone to know that I'm doing the Friday scrap challenges too. I'm working on a 9x9 album about my life and picking up some of those random pictures. So here is 2/20 challenge to make a layout with random stamping.

Supplies used: CTMH Western Flourishes stamp set, Just Like You stamp set, Make My Day stamp set, along with chocolate & breeze card stock and ink pads, chocolate collection ribbon rounds, and hinges.

Thursday Night Post

I was hoping to upload this yesterday but I was tired last night after my class. So this was my attempt to do digital hybrid scrapbooking. Hybrid = digital layout with added scrapbook materials, such as embellishments or added paper. In my case I did a 8x10 photo layout that I downloaded from Creating Keepsakes, uploaded my photos, then added the photo layout to a 12x12 scrapbook layout, then added a big bloom and a dimensional element "9". Let me tell you it took me awhile to understand the layers thing on Elements and how to drop the pictures - whew! But after printing it twice I think my hubby could have screamed at the amount of ink that it took to print. Digital is fun, but remember that you need memory on your computer to save all the layouts and LOTS of ink in your printer!

Open House Sneak Peek

Last night I was working on the new My Creations Cube from CTMH. Just love these little cubes, they aren't that little 5"x5". I was so surprised how fast they are to create. The only tricky thing is tying it together. I found if you used a soft peice of wire work best as the threading needle.

Supplies used: CTMH My Creations Cube, Unforgettable paper pack, Aspirations stamp set, Brown Stayzon Ink, Sorbet ink pad, white sassy strands, Sorbet ribbon rounds, and Natures Ambiance rub-ons.

Key to my Heart

Today I had limited time to scrap so I decided to do a 1 page layout. I wanted to use the the new CTMH paper pack that is only available this month. It's called Key to my Heart paper pack & stamp set. I love the swirls in the paper and the stamp set, but I wanted to CHALLENGE myself...so I was looking at the stripe paper and I'm not a big fan of stripes, I only use in moderation. So I decided to push myself and focus on stripes.

What is that style that you shy away from? I challenge you this week to pick up some paper that either you haven't used or a style that your not jumping up & down for and create a scrap page. It can be about anything or anyone. Email me with a picture when you have done it and at the end of each month I will do a drawing for those who do my weekly challenges. You have a chance to get a goodie bag in the mail!
